Hollyland LARK M2 review: the affordable wireless mic I use daily

I own the Hollyland LARK M2 and use it every day. For me, it’s a great affordable alternative to DJI and RØDE wireless microphones—especially when I’m shooting directly on a phone. If you want a practical wireless mic for Android or iPhone video, this is one I recommend considering.

That recommendation comes from using it in my own work. It isn’t a claim that it beats every DJI or RØDE model at every feature. My reason for recommending it is simpler: I think it offers great value for everyday shooting.

Why it makes sense for phone video

A phone can be a useful production tool when the setup fits the job. For talking-to-camera clips, social videos and quick updates, the microphone deserves as much thought as the picture. A wireless mic lets you place the microphone near the speaker while choosing where the phone needs to sit for the shot.

This is where the LARK M2 stands out to me as a value option. If most of your work is recorded directly onto an Android phone or iPhone, it’s worth looking at before assuming you need a more expensive wireless system.

A professional camera with a different audio input may need additional equipment; this isn’t a universal connection for every camera.

If you move between phone and camera shoots, compare the complete kit contents before buying. The right bundle can be more useful than buying a phone-only version and discovering later that it doesn’t include the connection you need.

An alternative to DJI and RØDE—based on what you need

I see the LARK M2 as a strong budget-friendly choice for everyday video. But “DJI” and “RØDE” each cover several different products, so compare the actual kits rather than the brand names alone.

Start with your recording device, how many people you need to mic, and the features your jobs require. If you need onboard backup recording, a particular monitoring setup or advanced audio controls, verify those features on the exact model before deciding. My daily-use recommendation doesn’t replace that check.
